Newman Begins New Role in BIS Program
Dr. Tim Newman, a clinical assistant professor in Sports Administration, started this fall as the program coordinator of the new BIS Sport Administration Program. After graduating from the United States Sports Academy (Ed.D. in sport management), the University of Virginia (MEd. in education) and Towson State University (BS in athletic training), he taught at York College of Pennsylvania. He provides leadership in professional organizations such as his current work with the COSMA Board of Commissioners and previously with NASSM. His most recent scholarly work focused on social media and culminated in writing a textbook on effectively integrating social media strategies in sport marketing. Other areas of research have included youth sports, experiential learning and online education. Newman’s vast industry experience covers consulting with sport-related entrepreneurs, working with athletes at all levels, developing online education courses and providing comprehensive event management services.
