Health and Physical Education – Sport Coaching
The Kinesiology and Health Department offers a Bachelor of Science in Education in Health and Physical Education. The sport coaching concentration prepares sport coaching, physical activity, heath and wellness professionals to work in community sport and movement settings from early childhood through later adulthood. Areas of emphasis include movement skill development and analysis, personal health and wellness, pedagogical-disciplinary study, instructional skills, philosophy and analysis of sport coaching, athlete development coaching athletes with disabilities, and direct field experiences. This concentration does not lead to initial teacher certification.

Tort liability insurance is required for program admission. It is recommended that all HPE majors join Georgia Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (GAHPERD) for $8.00 (Future Professional Membership). $1 million of Tort liability insurance coverage is provided with membership.
