Program Club and Awards

Sport Management and Administration Club (SMAC) is the official student club of the Georgia State University Sport Administration program.

The purpose of SMAC is to enhance the educational experience of the club members and make members more knowledgeable of the sport industry by providing a forum for networking, service to the sports community, creating opportunities for members to gain hands-on experience, and providing access to working professionals.

The goals and objectives of SMAC are to:

  1. Provide a forum for networking between students of the Sport Administration program
  2. Promote awareness of the Sport Administration program
  3. Provide service for the sports community by volunteering and fundraising
  4. Provide a resource for lifelong learning
  5. Create a means of communication between active members, alumni of the program and professionals within the sports industry
  6. Continue to build on the foundation provided in the classroom

Throughout the year, SMAC will host socials for club members in various areas around the city of Atlanta. This is a chance for members to get to know who is the program, network, talk with alumni, and to have fun.

Past socials have included sites such as Hudson Grille and Gordon Biersch. Food is normally provided and games are a must! This gives a chance for students to put their knowledge of sports to the test with trivia or break out the old tacky holiday sweater for a chance at some awesome prizes.

Some of the Club Socials and Events that are regularly held are:

  • Club Annual
  • Spring and Fall Banquets
  • New, Current, and Alumni Networking Socials
  • Intramurals
